Unite for Change

This next Saturday, on June 28, Democrats will be coming together to show our support for Barack Obama, as well as our solidarity with one another.  After a long, bruising nomination battle, it's time for us to unite around our shared principles and values, because this election is bigger than any one of us or our chosen candidate, and because so much is at stake this election cycle.  This is a great opportunity to meet people like you who are tired of the status quo, and find out more about how you can help not just Obama, but the Democratic party, win big in November.

Events are planned all over the country, including here in Texas.  Click here to find an event near you, or if you're too lazy to leave your house, you can also volunteer to host your own event.  As for me, I'm too lazy to clean my apartment, so I'll be finding someone else's event to go to.

Eyes on the prize

If there's anyone left who hasn't decided who will be the better standard-bearer for the Democratic party this fall, they need only look at what the remaining two candidates are doing as the nominating process draws to a close.  In North Carolina, Hillary Clinton is desperately pushing for more debates.  Because Barack Obama hasn't been asked enough questions yet about his flag pin, or the Weather Underground, or his ex-preacher, or whatever manufactured controversy the Republicans and their associates in the Clinton campaign have come up with this week.  Meanwhile, Obama, our presumptive nominee, is doing the things that someone who is thinking about the party's prospects in November, rather than his own battle for the nomination, would do: unveiling an ambitious 50-state voter registration drive, and joining with the national party to file papers with the FEC establishing a joint fundraising agreement that would allow his donors to simultaneously to his campaign and the DNC.
